Jo-Ann Armstrong: As a family, we wanted to share our good fortune with organizations that we can become an important part of and that focus on providing opportunities through investment rather than "charity." In this spirit, our Foundation looks to make a significant difference in "grass roots" organizations that do not receive funding from the usual sources, such as the Government or United Way, or who do not have professional fund raising capabilities. We look for organizations that have a purity and nobility of purpose and need our help to make the progress. There are many organizations in our communities selflessly working their hearts out to help others. Yet they do not have the organizational sophistication, or the means, to run effective fund raising programs. We are dedicated to helping these types of organizations. Jo-Ann Armstrong, May 2005. |
